Zardari...The questions is who will "tame" the ISI. Zardari's government does not have the public mandate or the political mandate or the muscle to act against ISI. This is assuming that it wants to do so -- a highly suspect assumption.

So, if the Government will not act and if the Military will not act, then I believe we Pakistanis better be prepared for someone else to come and do it for us.

It will not be pretty though.

On 21st January, when Obama takes over, we should brace ourselves for the silk glove to come off the iron fist. Crippling economic sanctions followed by surgical military strikes will happen in quick succession unless we weed out completely all the rogue elements from the Armed Forces and the Government and eradicate all militant organisations.

Maybe this cancer that is afflicting our nation needs such radical surgery as what will be performed by DC and New Delhi.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17616720885011785056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-748054845612454925.post-85614131410078115332008-12-11T22:34:00.000+05:002008-12-11T22:34:00.000+05:00Da Eternal Rebel@It is true that we have to elimin...Da Eternal Rebel@

It is true that we have to eliminate this poison but we would need good neighbors for that. What India has been doing in Afghanistan since it got a foothold there post 9/11 has made things only worse.

India will not remain unaffected as the current events show.Scheherazadehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11049675238253960582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-748054845612454925.post-25331417456114650712008-12-11T19:04:00.000+05:002008-12-11T19:04:00.000+05:00Luscious, I agree with you that Pakistan is as muc...Luscious, I agree with you that Pakistan is as much a victim as India.

The fact however remains that Rebel's each and every word rings true.

We have nobody to blame but ourselves. Until such time that we acknowledge this fact, as a nation, and dismantle all corrupted agencies such as ISI and exterminate all militant sympathisers within the Government and the Military, we will not be able to get ourselves out of this quicksand.

I am certain that the Pakistan leadership did not sanction or were even aware of the Mumbai attacks. They however had given free reign to those who planned this attack. In my opinion, that makes us as guilty as having had done it ourselves.

We need to stop harboring terrorists if we want to claim innocemce.

Remember why Mohammed Bin Qasim invaded Sindh. It is because the local Hindu Rajah was harboring pirates. Our habit of continuing to "finger" India will one day have terrible consequences for us as a nation.

we should stop deluding ourselves that we are in the same league with India. We are not even close and every day we lag further behind -- closer to becoming a failed state. Is that what we wish for our children?Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17616720885011785056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-748054845612454925.post-18082212583306691742008-12-11T18:37:00.000+05:002008-12-11T18:37:00.000+05:00ISI is a boogeyman for the Indians..Thats the most...ISI is a boogeyman for the Indians..

Thats the most serious thing I have ever heard in past 10 years. From the assassination of Mohandas Gandhi in 1948 to the recent attacks in Mumbai, it has faced attempts to change its national character by force. None has yet succeeded. Despite its manifest social failings, India remains the developing world’s most successful experiment in free, plural, large-scale political collaboration.

I am quite certain that these well-planned attacks were not homegrown, and almost certainly originated from Pakistan.

The prime solution to the present crisis is to force the closing of terrorist training outfits in Pakistan, and apply the law to those who organize and finance operations like the Mumbai massacres. Hafiz Saeed and other suspects should be sent to India to stand trial. The remark by Pakistan’s president, Asif Ali Zardari (a man whose history of shady business dealing makes him demonstrably unfit for high, or even low, office), that he did not think the terrorists came from Pakistan would be funny if it were not tragic.

The United States gives around $1 billion a year in military aid to Islamabad; that is leverage. It does the people of Pakistan no favors for its leadership to continue with the strategy of perpetual diversion, asking India to be patient while denying the true nature of the immediate terrorist threat.

I received this e-mail message recently from a friend in Karachi: “Nowhere does it get more depressing than Pakistan these days — barring some African failed states and Afghanistan.”Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17616720885011785056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-748054845612454925.post-75862466976520283952008-12-08T08:15:00.000+05:002008-12-08T08:15:00.000+05:00I hope this hell will end soon.I hope this hell will end soon.rajhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15006835791137401978noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-748054845612454925.post-83875885784124095822008-12-08T06:43:00.000+05:002008-12-08T06:43:00.000+05:00Raj, what happened is indeed very sad and tragic. ...Raj, what happened is indeed very sad and tragic.

Hoping for better times..Scheherazadehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11049675238253960582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-748054845612454925.post-36075042292394277892008-12-08T01:56:00.000+05:002008-12-08T01:56:00.000+05:00looks like politician and law makers are too invol...looks like politician and law makers are too involved.it is just the loss of foriegners that resulted in somewhat seriousness else india dont damn about there citizensrajhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15006835791137401978noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-748054845612454925.post-1334783311867003852008-12-08T01:54:00.000+05:002008-12-08T01:54:00.000+05:00This comment has been removed by the author.rajhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15006835791137401978noreply@blogger.com
